“There are holes in the star-spangled banner: Neat eye-shaped cutouts that Texas-based artist Chris Sauter made from six U.S. flags. Suspended amid the perforated flags hangs the shape of a cortisol molecule, our stress-regulating hormone, sewn from the leftover material. The work, “Under Pressure,” will be on view in this promising group show that brings together Washington state- and Texas-based artists who respond to our current political moment.
