Traveling across the land; passing through urban forests and watersheds have always held my interest, by foot most of all. The process of moving from point A to B can be direct or meandering depending upon intent. Observation becomes absorption. From these experiences, my map-like work, whether paintings, installations, or videos, reflect a deep connection to people and place. Each work is built from memory line by line, layer by layer through consideration of stillness verses chaos; beauty verses brokenness; and the paradox contained within the persistence of nature amidst entropy.
