My work comes from a deep appreciation of nature and a desire to communicate our shared and complex relationship to it.
Paintings and public installations reference the landscape through a process that demonstrates the relationship of parts to a whole, encouraging an exploration and awareness of micro and macro environments. Through personal observations, photographs, and memories, I translate them through reductive systems of mark-making. Creating a “visual ecosystem” is at the core of almost everything I have made.
These systems emulate a symbiotic relationship, existing as distinct elements within a collective harmony. Contemporary and ancient systems of representation combine with an interest in language and storytelling to create places that exist somewhere between virtual, real, and imagined. -
